So, what are Light Novels? They aren’t quite manga, because they are mostly just words, but they aren’t really normal novels since, I don’t know, they have anime people on the cover, I guess? And what is with all the ridiculous titles anyway? All pretty good questions and ones you may have asked yourself, even if you’ve already taken a liking to this subgenre of literature.
A lot of books came out this year, y’all. It’s utterly impossible to read them all, even among a building full of booksellers. While it’s easy to fall into the gamification of reading goals, it’s also important to take a step back and enjoy stories that are precious to us – which is what we’re doing with this list, as we look back throughout the year to the stories that really stuck with us.
Throughout 2022, we kept hearing from customers the same heartwarming sentiment: “I’m so glad we’re able to gather together again!” As we’ve lengthened operating hours, expanded cafe seating, and turned our events programming back in-person, we’ve loved seeing local authors and readers show up to browse, read, eat, and shop. Let’s take a look back at what we’ve been up to this year: Banned Camp in the summer, events nearly every day, community partnerships, and, of course, the incredible books we read.
