School Outreach Program Staff
We are looking for some part time staff to help us facilitate our school outreach program for the 2017-2018 school year. Responsibilities will include helping facilitate the logistics of our school bookfair programs as well as helping host the author events we do at schools around Austin. You will be BookPeople’s ambassador to schools and authors, and it will be your job to help us make them feel well taken care of! Ideal candidates are book enthusiasts with some knowledge of children’s literature.
Shifts will be M-F, morning or afternoon (or both) with flexibility based on your schedule, totaling between 10 and 36 hours in a week, depending on your availability and the fluctuating demands of the program. Candidates must have a car to use for deliveries and be able to lift boxes of books. Willingness to drive a delivery truck is a must.
Preference given to candidates interested in working as a YA or children’s specialist at BookPeople on Saturdays.
Bookfair requirements include:
- Sorting, organizing, and preparing books for bookfair programs
- Ability to work independently and pay attention to detail
- Book delivery to and pickup from schools around Austin
Event hosting requirements include:
- Author management
- Helping schools adhere to logistics of author’s needs and schedule
- Book delivery to and pickup from schools around Austin
- Reconciling book totals and sales after events are completed
Responsibilities may also include facilitating sales at general BookPeople offsite events, depending on schedule and availability.

Event Staff
We are also seeking help on our part-time event staff for our in-store events, with evening and weekend shifts totaling 8-12 hours/week available. Preference given to applicants with the availability to work offsite events during the day and on weekends.
