Austin Bat Cave presents a workshop with Bret Anthony Johnston

Our friends at Austin Bat Cave are offering the Austin general writing public the opportunity to learn about the craft of fiction with acclaimed author Bret Anthony Johnston. Johnston, a fiction writer with strong Texas roots (his latest novel, Remember Me Like This, takes place in our favorite state, and his story collection is called Corpus Christi.), will also be presenting his new novel at BookPeople on Tuesday, September 9 at 7pm.

• When: September 8th, 2014, 6:00pm-9:00pm
• Where: Oeste Classroom at Casa De Luz at 1701 Toomey Road
• Cost: $100 (All proceeds benefit ABC’s free programs for children ages 6-18.)
• What: In this three-hour seminar for fiction and narrative writers, Bret Anthony Johnston—acclaimed author and Director of Creative Writing at Harvard University—will give a craft talk and lead writing exercises based on participants’ work, which will besubmitted to him in advance. (Those who register will be asked to submit the opening pages of a work in progress two weeks prior to the seminar.) Mr. Johnston will also provide written comments on the first page of each work. This workshop will be capped at twenty registrants.

and avenues for exploration, such as songwriting, screenwriting, and poetry workshops. All of our programs are highly tailored to the schools we work with and the students we serve. All of our programs are free for students.
