New Marissa Meyer Book!
It was announced just last week that there will in fact be a fifth book in the Lunar Chronicles series! Fairest will be a prequel about Queen Levana, the series villain, and it will be a full length novel. This has got to be the best news we’ve heard all year! More info here.
Book Reviews!
Olivia reviews the July Buzz Book, Conversion. Here is an excerpt:
This book is PHENOMENAL. You – sitting behind your computer or phone reading this review – must go get this book now. Beg your parents, grab your keys, and come and get this book in your hands!! And being completely honest, this is the best book I have read all year so far. It was just . . . mind-blowing. But be warned – when this novel captivates you, there is no turning back from its bewitching spell . . .
Xander reviews Noggin by John Corey Whaley, “Noggin was wonderful. It was such a quirky, fun read. This book was so weird—but incredible at the same time. This book has such an absurd concept—but you fall in love with it . . . “
Katie P. reviews Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout. “. . . it’s to Armentrout’s great credit that she knows that young adults are large, contain multitudes, and will, like adult readers, follow any good story into the dark.”
**Jennifer Armentrout will be in-store on August 5th at 7PM! She will be speaking and signing her book, Opposition which will be released the day of the event! Pre-order your signed copy today in-store or via bookpeople.com.**
News from the John Green beat
John Green, author of the mega-bestseller The Fault in Our Stars (TFIOS), and his books have been in the news a lot lately. Here is a wrap up of all recent John Green related news.
John is currently in Ethiopia with Bill Gates. Yes, that Bill Gates. John and Bill are there to see the work being done to improve medical clinics and care, efforts to reduce infant mortality, and probably a whole bunch of other important and critical things that are being funded by work and money through the Gates Foundation. All of it is an effort to, as John says, “reduce world suck.” John is tweeting and instagramming his experience.
Nerdfighters, in case you are behind in your vlogbrothers feed, the summer book club pick is Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo. John speaks about the book here.
Looking for Alaska movie is moving forward. It’s still in the early production stages, but actress-director-writer Sarah Polley is attached to write the screenplay.
John Green & David Levithan’s co-written novel, Will Grayson, Will Grayson, featured character Tiny Cooper. Levithan has, with John’s blessing, written a spin-off musical-novel starring Tiny called Hold Me Closer: the Tiny Cooper Story (March 2015). It sounds fantastic.
