The Man Booker Shortlist to award the best in contemporary fiction for 2013 was announced today. The list has been narrowed down to 6 diverse books. The titles are:
We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
Harvest by Jim Crace
The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri
A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
The Testament of Mary by Colm Tóibín
Judges Robert MacFarlane, Robert Douglas-Fairhurst, Natalie Haynes, Martha Kearney, and Stuart Kelly concentrated the variety for consideration this year down to an incredible selection of titles that highlights the diversity of the modern novel. No book or author is alike on this list, and the judges certainly have their work cut out for them.
