Muck City by Bryan Mealer
“Muck City is about Belle Glade Florida. Once a migrant town, Belle Glade is extremely poor but produces a high number of NFL players. The town has a crime problems, and drugs use is at an all time high. Muck City follows three Belle Glade citizens as they struggle in the failing town. The coach of the football program at the high school is a former NFL player, he came back to Belle Glade because the program was failing. Mario is the team’s quarter back who dreams of going pro. Then there is Jonteria who is determined to become a doctor and escape the muck. It reminds me somewhat of Friday Night Lights, and it’s a really good read.”

Bossypants by Tina Fey
“I thought I was too old and curmudgeonly for Tina Fey- she’s so cool and young- but I’m not and she isn’t. I’m only about 85 pages into it, but on the bus on the way home from work I laughed so loud that everyone was looking at me. Tina Fey has a lot of heart. She doesn’t try to be funny all of the time, there is a lot of solid advice in there. I highly recommend Bossypants.”

TOMMY

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
“Rereading The Hobbit brings back all the joy and wonder of reading it for the first time when I was 9. I forgot, because of how weighty and thick and for adults Lord of the Rings is, that The Hobbit is so accessible to people of all ages. There are no slow points. Bilbo is the character who is most similar to Tolkien himself. He is always tired and hungry and a lot of his experiences mirror Tolkien’s in WWI. He creates a whole world that is so detailed and so real that you long to be a hobbit. I don’t have a favorite book- it’s just too hard to pick but if I did this would definitely be in my top 3. I can read it over and over again.”

MICHAEL

Crow Hunter by Doc Hair
“Crow Hunter is about a brother and sister and a house that may or may not be evil. I’m only about 100 pages in but so far it is very creepy and very cool! It’s a fast paced yarn that will keep you on the edge of your seat, I can’t wait to see what happens next.”

Currently Crow Hunter can only be purchased in store. So come on in and grab a copy!
