Kate Williams & Michelle Campbell – Sun, May 5th @ 2 PM

What happens when Kate, an 8-year-old girl from Austin, meets Michelle, a professional wildlife guide, while on safari in South Africa? The two new friends turn their adventures into a book!!! Come meet this dynamic duo and get inspired by their advocacy for wild animals. 

Kids Book Club with author Lynda Mullaly Hunt!Fri, May 10 @ 6 PM

We absolutely love Fish in a Tree, so we’re extra excited to welcome author Lynda Mullaly Hunt to celebrate her new book, Shouting at the Rain! This special meeting takes place on our third floor, hosted in partnership with local volunteer group Austin Allies. Our Kids Book Club will be discussing the book and asking the author all of their burning questions. Join us for light snacks, beverages, and great conversation starting at 6 PM!

Carmen Oliver & Debbie Gonzales – Sat, May 11 @ 2 PM

We’re thrilled to welcome kid lit authors Carmen Oliver and Debbie Gonzalez in celebration of their new nonfiction picture books, A Voice for the Spirit Bears and Girls with Guts. Come learn about real life stories of change makers and record breakers through these authors’ beautiful storytelling! 

The 5 Book Dive Summer Reading Splash! – Sat, March 18, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

2019_5BookDive_SQ (1) (1)Kick off summer reading with a SPLASH! Join us at the AISD Performing Arts Center for our second annual 5 Book Dive festival, which focuses on readers grades 3-6 with a full day of interactive sessions and programming, author signings, and more!

Adam Gidwitz and David Bowles open the festival with their keynote at 9:30 AM, and author-illustrator Dan Santat will be hosting a storytime along with Elephant & Piggie– for those younger siblings and emerging readers! Author Guest Storytime with Julian Hector! – Sat, May 25 @ 10:30 AM

We’re so excited to welcome local illustrator Julian Hector to storytime! Julian is the 9781368018173creative mind behind books like The Little Matador and This is the Firefighter, and today he’s here to read his latest, This is the Construction Worker! He’s even going to draw pictures for us! Join us at 10:30 AM.
