A Night of Queer Performance is an evening of live readings and performance art featuring members of the Central Texas LGBTQ community. Organized by ACC Professor Louisa Spaventa, this event will feature Paige Schilt (educator, activist, and author of Queer, Rock, Love—A Family Memoir); Katy Koonce (musician and psychotherapist); Crystal Bird Caviel (performer, writer, and activist); Mad Max Morrison (drag king) of Boiz4Now; and San Antonio’s Foxxy Blue Orchard/Dino Foxx (poet, performer, gender-bending glam bear) and Maxxy Radd (genderfluid visual and performance artist).
Professor Spaventa created and teaches the honors English course, Composition II “Queer Writing: Stories By and About LGBTQ People” at ACC. This course was designed to increase awareness of the importance of fiction as a political tool, historical reference, and a healing experience for the LQBTQ community.
