Today is a special day in the world of children’s literature as we’re celebrating 100 years in the life of Beverly Clearly, whose work has been enjoyed by over three generations. Publishing almost fifty books before retiring, she’s received the National Medal of Arts award (in the Oval Office), a Newbery Medal, and was named a Library of Congress “Living Legend”. In celebration of Cleary’s life, we’re thinking back to our favorite titles (and our younger selves). This is a day to celebrate the fact that we’re all still BookKids at heart.
her publishing stint reflects her autumunal accomplishments…. that it is not about the age but the passion and drive to be what one can be despite the cruelty of twilight zone……
Ramona was my childhood. At least until I got old enough for Babysitters Club. I rented the movies based on the books from Hastings and watched and rewatched them all the time. Love those!
