Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson is a recent release that the staff has fallen in love with. It’s about a blue-haired girl named Astrid who finds herself without the company of her best friend, loves roller derby but isn’t very good at it, and is in big trouble with her mom. Demi says, “it’s about friendships, family, feelings – and being awesome even when you fall down.”
Astrid got us thinking about other favorite female characters and what their roller derby names would be. We picked some of our favorites, gave them roller derby names, and divided them into teams. Here are the rosters:

Well, I am clearly rooting for the blue team! (And what about Scathach too?)
