Bike to Work Day is happening here in Austin Friday, May 15. As a bookstore that boast many cyclists and is next to REI, which is one of the Bike to Work Day fueling stations, we’re particularly excited about this community happening. To celebrate, we’re highlighting some of our booksellers who bike and offering a few recs for great books for bicyclists.

How long have you been biking to work?
Since I started working here, so over 10 years.
Why do you bike?
Because I don’t have a car and it’s great exercise.
What’s your favorite path/route/neighborhood to bike in Austin?
I like biking through neighborhoods. It gives me a chance to look at the houses and do some local sightseeing. I really like biking through Tarrytown and West Lynn.
What kind of bike do you ride?
A brand new Cannondale. I was looking for a triathlon bike and couldn’t find one my size, so we tricked out a road bike and turned it into a triathlon bike. Cannondale was my size and the right price.
What’s your local bike shop of choice?
Austin Tri-Cyclist.
What book about bicycling do you recommend?
The Bicycling Big Book of Cycling for Beginners: Everything a new cyclist needs to know to gear up and start riding. This is a good starter manual. I want people to bike!
