Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling
I’m reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for the first time. I love it!! I wanted something that I knew that would be a fun, light, read, but I was surprised and impressed with how much more depth it has than the movies. Harry Potter is kind of a dork, but I like all the other characters, especially Crookshanks, because he’s a badass orange kitty cat. In terms of which house I would be in…I would probably be in Hufflepuff.”

The Success Principles: How To Get From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be by Jack Canfield
“It’s really good – I like it when the author gives you bite-size pieces of information. This book gives you life advice on careers, relationships, etc., and all in just a few pages; it gives you great quotes and figures. I like that it has 67 principles in one book, which means that I don’t have to read 67 books for each principle. Plus, he’s a great writer.”

The Age of Wonder: The Romantic Generation and the Discovery of the Beauty and Terror of Science by Richard Holmes
“[The book contains] a series of biographies of scientists and discoverers during the 18th century – it was a very romantic period of scientific discovery; everything was exciting and innocent – that’s why they call it the ‘age of wonder.’ I would recommend it to people who like history and science. The most interesting bio I’ve read so far is about William Herschel, who discovered Uranus, and was the first to discover a planet in over a thousand years.”

Golden Son: Book II of the Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown
“I cannot put down Golden Son, the second book in Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series. I not only look for a book to be epic and characters well developed, but also for a beautiful writing style. These books are gorydamn good!! If you want a roaring adventure that will knock you back in your seat, look no further. The books take place in a world where human kind was overtaken by Golds, a race of people ruthless in their search for power and blood lust. The Golds are the highest ranking color among many other colored races of people. Golden Son continues the story of Darrow, a Red who has infiltrated the world of the Golds for revolutionary purposes. The book takes up two years after the story of Red Rising and Darrow’s continuing efforts to find a way to break down the Gold’s system. I won’t say anymore until I write up a full review for both books, don’t worry, no spoilers I promise!”

D.C. Super Friends: Flower Power! by Courtney Carbone and Dan Schoening
“The kids are reading D.C. Super Friends Flower Power!, which is all about empowering the young ladies with female superheroes (in this case, Batgirl and Wonder Woman). They are really enjoying the strong female characters in the superhero universe. The book has changed their play and their role-playing, and I’m seeing them work together more in their play. I would recommend this book for the 3-6 age range.”

Azkaban is my favorite of the bunch. Enjoy!
I just read Prisoner of Azkaban this week!! Love that read.
I too read the Prizoner of Azkaban. Such a great series. I agree with Emily K. in that the book is so much more deep than the movie was. I remember sitting in front of the tv watching the movie for the first time with friends. Some of them didn’t follow the books but enjoyed the flicks. I remember thinking too bad they don’t get this scene or that scene, or what Harry is suspecting or how the uncle is feeling inside. I really loved the book more.
Also, I think I’ll look into Bruce’s recommendation of Age of Wonder. It sounds intriguing and science history does interest me. Thanks!
I love the Harry Potter series 🙂 And I’ve read all the books at least five times each. But now I’m reading the Goblet Of Fire. So I’m actually ahead of you on that!
I’m pretty much addicted to the Harry Potter series. The movies were no where near as good as the books, but I actually like the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. I’m an Alfonso Cuaron fan.
