We are thrilled to welcome LeVar Burton, an icon of reading for generations of book lovers, to BookPeople to share his new picture book, The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm. In this poetic book-within-a-book, a happy little rhinoceros is overwhelmed by a storm that sweeps away everything he loves, until he is given a gentle reminder that even though bad things sometimes happen, the world is full of people who care. Burton has earned legions of fans as the host of Reading Rainbow and from his role as Geordi LaForge on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The speaking portion of this event is free and open to the public. Burton will read the book, take questions and then sign books. Tickets are required for the signing and are only available with the purchase of a copy of The Rhino Who Swallowed A Storm from BookPeople.

Many of us here grew up watching Reading Rainbow and were excited and encouraged to read because of LeVar Burton’s work. We can’t wait to have Burton here to say thank you and to share his love of books with Austin’s young readers.
