MMM Good: Aaron Franklin of Franklin’s BBQ announced he’ll publish a new book, Barbeque (working title). To be released in 2015, the book will be coupled with Franklin’s PBS show BBQ with Franklin in development based on his current web series of the same name.

And Now For Something Completely Different: Bestselling Author of the Drunken Botanist Amy Stewart is turning her writing talent to ficton. This week Stewart announced she’s working on a series of books centered on the life of real-life figure Constance Kopp, a early 20th century NJ deputy sheriff. The first book will be Girl Waits With a Gun.

BookGram: Star of The Office, B. J. Novak, released teasers from his new book on instagram last weekend before it was released on Tuesday. The images from his book, One More Thing: Stories & More Stories, were a welcome addition to Novak’s instagram feed which consists primarily of images of words. The author’s release party was hosted in NY on Tuesday night. Novak reportedly said, “Nothing I’ve done has ever meant this much to me.”

Life Imitates Art. Sci Fi Art: NPR’s All Tech Considered used their weekly innovations discussion to talk about Sensory Fiction. The clever peeps at MIT have come up with a vest that will plug into an e-book and change your environment to match the mood of the book.

In His Octopus’s Garden in the Shade: Ringo Star released a picture book this week based on The Beatles song, Octopus’s Garden. With illustrations by Ben Cort, Octopus’s Garden includes a CD with Ringo Starr’s spoken version The Abbey Road soundtrack.

Get Schooled: The University of Central Lancashire, UK, has launched an MA program in self-publishing. The course will cover content as well as marketing & business models for becoming a successful self-published author.

Made for TV: The Luminaries has been picked up by the BBC with plans to turn it into a mini-series. Man Booker prize winner and author of The Luminaries, Eleanor Catton, has insisted that the show be filmed in New Zealand.
