Ishmael Beah Reads From RADIANCE OF TOMORROW

Ishmael Beah’s book A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Solider soared to the top of bestseller lists (and book club lists) when it was released in 2007. A harrowing account of Sierra Leone’s civil war, Beah’s story exposed readers to the fate of child soldiers. Now he has returned with his first novel, Radiance of Tomorrowan affecting, tender parable about postwar life in Sierra Leone.

A few of our booksellers had the pleasure of hearing Beah speak last summer at Book Expo America. Mandy was particularly taken by his speech, which touched on his inspiration for writing Radiance of Tomorrow. “It’s interesting to put a face and voice to such an incredible story. Beah speaks with passion and eloquence about his past and this new book. You can’t help but feel compelled to read his work and get to know him. He’s so humble about his success.”
