All the Book Deals: B.J. Novak is now venturing into the fun world of children’s literature. A Book With No Pictures, part of a two book deal from Penguin Young Readers Group, comes on the heels of his debut adult collectipn, One More Thing: Stories & Other Stories coming out on 2/4 that was also part of a two book deal from Knopf. Novak will be at BookPeople on Wednesday, Mar 12 at 7PM. The speaking portion of the event is free & open to the public. Tickets for the signing line are available with purchase of One More Thing from BookPeople.

Breaking Boundaries: Following her win for the Sydney Taylor Book Award in the young readers category, Laurel Snyder‘s book The Longest Night: A Passover Story sparked a discussion about women and girls’ roles in Jewish children’s literature.

Apology & Settlement: Greg Mortenson author of Three Cups of Tea apologized on the Today show this week saying he, “failed in many ways…I’m going to try as hard as I can never to make the same mistakes again,” in regards to the allegations and ordered $1 million settlement to the Central Asia Institute co-founded by Morrison for allegedly misusing charitable funds.

Announced this Week: Vintage Books is slated to release a book by Guardian Foreign Correspondent Luke Harding’s book on the Edward Snowden case titled The Snowden Files at the end of February.

First Look: Entertainment Weekly took a first look a the movie adaptation of The Giver. The first pictures were released this week that show Jeff Bridges & star Brenton Thwaites from the set of the movie. Bridges reports having waiting to make this film for over 20 years. The film is currently set to release on August 15 of this year.

What’s In a Name?: Here’s a piece from Vulture interviewing Naval Academy Professor Jack Patrick Ryan about what his life’s been like living up to his doppleganger-in-name Jack Ryan of the novels (and a fair amount of movies) by Tom Clancy. “…That’s sort of where the kind of cool part is: It’s just literature again affecting people’s lives and affecting my life personally.”
