Sunday morning we had ourselves a TIME with Mac Barnett and Jon Scieszka. Bunny ears, eye patches, carrot cupcakes, sword fights. It was awesome. While signing copies of their new book, Battle Bunny, (available on our shelves and via bookpeople.com), Mac recommended a few books we all must read (the younger set might want to wait a few years before tackling some of them):
1. Bleeding Edge by Thomas Pynchon
2. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
3. Stinky Cheese Man by Jon Scieszka
4. Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
5. As She Climbed Across the Table by Jonathan Lethem
Battle Bunny is hilarious. If you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to browse a copy the next time you’re in. Leave it to this dynamic duo to launch bookseller debates about whether or not it’s okay to write in books. (If you own the book and it belongs to you, you get to do whatever you want with it, right? Is it defacing if it’s yours?)

Yaaaaay Stinky Cheese Man! I was in an award winning readers theatre group that did that in high school. SO fun!
