This is the second year ABA (American Booksellers Association) members from around the country participated as first-tier readers for the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize. The Center for Fiction just announced the shortlist:

Ghana Must Go by Taiye Selasi
The Morels by Christopher Hacker
Motherlunge by Kirstin Scott
The Residue Years by Mitchell Jackson
Wash by Margaret Wrinkle
Y by Marjorie Celona
American writers act as final judges. This year, those judges are Ben Fountain, Victor LaValle, Roxana Robinson, Christine Schutt, and Luis Alberto Urrea. The winner will be announced December 11.
