The Nightmare Factory Bows to the King of Chaos TONIGHT

~Post by Steven

It’s time to send the little ones off to dreamland and set your book lights to “spooky” as you once again commute to another grueling night’s labor at The Nightmare Factory!  Meet your two fearsome foremen Joe and Steve(n), the tentacular terrors that oversee the torment as we mine your subconscious for the precious mind-metals that are your deepest, most disturbing nightmares.  Take pride in the knowledge that your fright incarnate fuels our ferry as we traverse the nether realms of the human spirit, exploring the far reaches of fearfulness like so many cenobites as we document the depths of depravity.  This month’s kindling is Clive Barker’s Books of Blood 1-3 (ISBN: 0425165582), so light your senses ablaze tonight, Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. as you wriggle out of the woodwork to join us in BookPeople’s teeming tomb of a cafe to discuss this undisputed master of the macabre.  The Nightmare Factory book club is calling you in to work.

Clive Barker is responsible for all of my favorite moments in horror, from the surreal nonsense of Pinhead’s personal philosophy in Hellraiser to the surreal nonsense of the “humans vs. monsters” allegory in Nightbreed to the surreal nonsense of the titular demon’s bumbling brutality in Rawhead Rex.  Back in print for the first time in years, Clive Barker’s Books of Blood 1-3 collects his earliest published short stories into a compact compendium of chaos for efficient consumption.  Join us on tonight, Tuesday August 20th at 8:00 p.m. in the BookPeople cafe to lose yourself in the surreal nonsense of the Nightmare Factory book club’s incessant chatter.

The Nightmare Factory book club meets on the third Tuesday of every month in BookPeople’s claustrophobic cafe to turn the screw of literary horror fiction.  Face the beast this Tuesday with some Clive Barker-inspired frivolity.  We have such sights to show you.
