At BookPeople, we continue to stay strong, denying him access to buses, hot dogs, and puppies, even in the face of great indignation:
While it is true that this level of constant vigilance can be exhausting, all our lives would just feel so dreary and predictable without him. So to celebrate 10 years with the Pigeon, here are 10 things that he has generously given to us over the years:
1. An aging parking lot security system for defenseless school buses
2. Terrible late-night insomnia that even eating huge quantities of hot dogs before bed won’t fix
3. A nearly incapacitating hot dog craving that won’t quit, despite numerous medical interventions
4. Some hilarious books to read while we’re refusing to go to sleep
5. A pretty significant cookie jealousy issue. Wait… did someone give you a cookie?
6. Regular cookie rage management classes
7. The unquenchable belief that if we just keep asking, we will eventually get what we want (such as hot dogs or cookies or new puppies)
8. Periodic time outs resulting from this new request strategy
9. A refreshing reminder not to take ourselves so very seriously
10. A one-of-a-kind, slightly eccentric, charmingly irrepressible new friend
Here’s to you, Pigeon. Thanks for 10 great years!
