Yesterday one of our favorite new books of 2011 (if not all time) hit shelves in paperback – The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Not only did we fall head over heels in love with this magical, fantastic tale when we first read it, we also fell head over heels in love with the fabulous Erin Morgenstern when she visited last year to read from and celebrate her debut novel. We transformed our second floor into the BookPeople Night Circus to welcome her, complete with a black and white crepe paper tent, chocolate mice, a contortionist, a tarot card reader….it was a REALLY fun event.
One of the highlights of the evening was the clock our own Stephanya Tyler made based on the clock which features prominently in Erin’s book.
We are so proud to say that Stephanya’s incredible work inspired Anchor Books, the paperback publisher, to create their own awesome Night Circus clocks to send to bookstores across the country.
Stephanya designs and hand draws many of the signs you see around BookPeople. She’s also a professional artist. Check out her work on the facebook page dedicated to her art.
If you’re traveling around the country this summer, keep an eye out for the Night Circus clock in bookstores! And if you haven’t read The Night Circus yet, we cannot recommend this book highly enough. Pick up a copy and prepare to be transported to a whole new, wonderful dimension.
