The Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway
“Everybody says it’s awesome. I’m sixty pages into it and I’m really excited. I’ve been told my paintings resemble things in this book, so I’m looking forward to inspiration and a fun read.”

Still by Lauren Winter
“Lauren Winter writes spiritual memoirs. She’s sort of a more winsome Anne Lamott, but honest and heartfelt and real in that same way Lamott can be. This book is about what she calls her mid-faith crisis and what happens when you still believe but you sort of un-believe too, and just working through that. It’s really powerful. I’m reading an advance right now, the book will be out early next year. ”
Anno Dracula by Kim Newman
“This is really creepy, really interesting. I’m struggling a little bit with the fact that I think I’m rooting for the serial killer a little bit. It’s set in this world where vampires are sort of out in the open and trendy and popular, and this guy is killing them. The book paints him as what we would think of as a close-minded serial killer who thinks vampires shouldn’t exist, and I kind of find myself thinking I’m the kind of person who would believe, if vampires existed, it would probably be a good idea to kill them. I expect this will make for some good discussion at the book group*.”

Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
“I just started this in anticipation of Jeff’s event* and because I’m a huge fan of the show. It’s just as funny and dark and twisted as I wanted it to be.”
I’m reading The Gone-Away World right now too! 52 pages in!
