Scott’s Top 5 Crime Fiction Picks for Fall

~Post by MysteryPeople‘s Scott M.

There will be a bounty of great crime fiction coming out in the fall, adding to an already great year. Here are the top five I’m looking forward to.

1. Hurt Machine by Reed Farrel Coleman – Reed has said this is the last case for poignant PI, Moe Prager (other than a possible prequel about his cop days). It will be a bittersweet end to one of the most engaging series characters out there.

2. Choke Hold by Christa Faust – The much anticipated sequel to Money Shot has ex-porn star Angel Dare coming out of hiding to help a fighter in the mixed martial arts business. When you read Christa’s books you feel her joy of writing them.

3. Utu by Caryl Ferey – All I know about this book is that it is about a cop looking into New Zealand’s Moria culture to find a killer. All I need to know is that it’s written by Caryl Ferey, who wrote the phenomanal Zulu.

4. Hell & Gone by Duane Swierczynski – The second book in the trilogy that started this summer with the wild ride that was Fun & Games. I’m expecting pulp fiction on an epic scale.

5. The Cut by George Pelecanos – I was actually lucky enough to read this one already. It’s a throwback to Pelecanos’ early PI books with his usual gritty take on the DC streets. I’m also looking forward to meeting the man September 2nd when he comes to the store.

There will also be new books by by the likes of SJ Rozan and Micheal Conelly. So keep in touch with us to get the beat from the street.
