We are instituting a new, exciting addition to the BookPeople Blog. Every Thursday from now until the world ends (you know, 12/21/12) or at least until we decide differently, the BP blog is going to be taken over by the teen section. I’m going to be sneaking over here from the BookKids Blog to tell you all about the best teen books, teen events, news from our teen book club and general teen fabulousness that’s going on in the great wide web.
I thought I’d start our very first Teen Thursday! by sharing with you all of the exciting teen events happening in May at BookPeople.
Diversity in Children’s Literature, an Author’s Panel
Monday, May 9, 7:30 PM
at BookPeople
More info here.
Join us as we welcome Varian Johnson, Guadalupe Garcia McCall, Malinda Lo, Cindy Pon, Jo Whittemore, Dia Reeves, and Bethany Hegedus to speak about the importance of diversity in children’s books. This group is a mix of young adult and middle grade authors who will be discussing diversity in a wide range of genres. Sure to be interesting and enlightening, I know I’m not going to miss it.
Chills & Thrills Teen Book Tour
Sunday, May 15, 2 PM
BookPeople
More info here.
Seven is historically a powerful number, and when the seven authors of the Chills & Thrills Book Tour get together, magic happens. Join us Sunday, May 15, as the authors tell us about their books, writing, and their thoughts on the supernatural. The fun begins at 2PM.
The authors who will be joining us are:
These authors represent a whole range of action and fantasy stories, so it should be fun to listen to the banter. And I figure if we’re really lucky, we might get a duel to the death over what kind of fantasy is supreme. No matter what, the event is sure to be (pardon the expression) pretty kick a$$.

Not Just Another Teen Book Club
Author Meet & Greet: Sunday, May 15, 1:45PM
Club Meeting: Saturday, May 28, 2PM
For more info on these two events, click here.
I love our teen book club. We have a great group of energetic teens who do all sorts of fun things including review free books, meet authors, volunteer at community activities, and of course, read great YA books. They even have their own website for their reviews and activities.
Open to teens ages 13-19, we currently have 5 spots left in the group. If you or a teen you know would be interested in joining, email me at kids_blog at bookpeople dot com for more information.
