As part of an initiative to foster literacy and stop the summer slide through a focus on summer reading, BookPeople officially partnered with AISD in 2017 to amplify the Five Book Dive, a citywide reading challenge promoted all summer long through curated reading lists and program bookmarks. This year, we are joining with AISD and Austin Public Library to take it to the next level with a reading festival filled with interactive programming, book signings, and some of your favorite authors, including opening keynote speaker, Newbery Medal winner Kate DiCamillo! We aim to bring together kids from all over the city, offering a dynamic and diverse program that puts the fun in summer reading!
