President Jimmy Carter At BookPeople: PHOTOS

Yesterday we had the honor of hosting President Jimmy Carter for a signing of his new book, A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence and Power. President Carter is in town for the Civil Rights Summit being held at the LBJ Library. He met approximately 600 supporters here at BookPeople and signed many hundreds of copies of his book. While here, Carter also spoke to the press about the deplorable and dangerous circumstances too many women live in across the globe. It was sobering to hear him speak, yet encouraging to hear him give voice to the plight of women worldwide who confront violence and cultural prejudice on a regular basis.

Thank you to everyone who came out to greet President Carter. As you know if you were here, he signs incredibly fast. It was really something to watch him work (and a challenge for our own seasoned booksellers to keep up). This is the third time BookPeople has hosted President Carter. Yet another fine day to be a bookseller.
