Art Markman on Multitasking

You know you do it. We all do. We put it on our job applications: “Ability to multitask.” But is it really productive? Is it even safe? University of Texas Professor Art Markman, author of the new book Smart Change: Five Tools to Create New and Sustainable Habits in Yourself and Others, has a few words of advice for those of us who like to feel “busy”.

For more of Professor Markman’s words of wisdom on a wide range of habits, from eating better and exercising regularly to work-related behaviors such as learning effectively, join us tonight, Thursday, January 9 at 7pm, when he’s here at BookPeople to speak about and sign Smart Change. The event is free and open to the public.

We got to know Art Markman when his first book, Smart Thinking was released last year. In addition to speaking as an engaging expert on topics of psychology, he’s also one of our favorite local authors for reasons based purely on the fact that he is a Nice Guy. This is full disclosure here. Not only will you come away from tonight’s event knowing more than you did when you walked in, you’ll also be privy to that fortunate tribe of people who Know Art Markman. (Who, by the way, is also on the scientific advisory boards for The Dr. Phil Show and The Dr. Oz Show and blogs regularly for Psychology Today.)

If you can’t make it to the event and would like a signed copy of Smart Change, you can order one via bookpeople.com. But really you should join us. This is going to be a great discussion.
