When Book Trailers Are Art

Three Scenarios in Which Hana Sasaki Grows a Tail is a new collection of short stories from Austin author Kelly Luce. You’ll find it on our shelves October 1st. It’s the first book to come from Austin’s new small press, A Strange Object.

Delicate, strange, magical and unexpected, Luce’s stories live in a unique world where toasters singe fate into slices of bread and love renders the fantastic realistic. I found myself reading this collection too fast. I wanted to know the next scenario, the next set of characters. I wanted to know what more Luce could dream up.

We’re excited to host the book’s launch here at BookPeople on Wednesday, October 9th at 7pm. Copies of Three Scenarios are currently available for pre-order via our website.

It’s always exciting to come upon a new collection of stories that speaks to my literary heart. Three Scenarios will live on my bookshelf between Amy Hempel and Lorrie Moore (and not simply because it’s alphabetically appropriate). These are stories I’ll read again, set in a world I look forward to revisiting.
