Get Set for RECIPE FOR ADVENTURE!

The new children’s series by Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis, Recipe for Adventure, makes its debut on our shelves tomorrow, September 3rd. She recently talked to USA Today about her family’s love of cooking and how books helped her adjust to life in the United States when she moved here from Rome at the age of 8:

“It wasn’t cool to have a different name and a different ethnicity…I had a really hard time fitting in and I turned to books a lot of the time for inspiration and just to escape.”

The new series, aimed for readers ages 7-11, features brother and sister Alfie and Emilia Bertolizzi, and their magical and mysterious aunt Zia Donatella who transports them to famous food cities around the world where they learn both the value of fresh markets and of a home cooked meal. Book #1 is set in Naples. Book #2 is set in Paris.

We’re excited to welcome Giada here to BookPeople on Wednesday, September 11 at 7pm to sign copies of her books for fans. Tickets for the signing are still available via bookpeople.com.

In other Giada news, grown-up fans will be happy to know she recently launched an app, Giada, a digital weekly publication on food, beauty, fashion, home décor, health and fitness, travel, and family life. To celebrate its release, the first issue is being offered for free.  It’s available now on your iPad Newsstand.
