Today we’re celebrating the release of The Day the Crayons Quit, the delightfully zany new picture book illustrated by one of our favorite children’s book creators, Oliver Jeffers and written by Drew Daywalt.
Meghan G., Our Kid’s Book Buyer, is very excited: “At this point we all love Oliver Jeffers so much that all we really need to do is point towards this new book and tell you it’s illustrated by him. But we can’t leave it at that because this hilarious look at the inner lives of crayons is a zany must-read. We never thought we would be so entertained by a story about the emotional life crayons. Seriously, such an idea never ever crossed our minds at all. It’s a good thing Mr. Daywalt is around to write books for us and Jeffers is here to illustrate them.”
Yes, we are very big fans of Lost and Found, Moose & Me, and the entire Jeffers oeuvre. And we’re also fans of this video, in which Jeffers describes his process (and is adorable):
