We love Mary Roach. Her new book, Gulp: Adventures of the Alimentary Canal, dives deep down into the digestive system to explain, in fascinating, classic Roach detail, what happens to the food we eat. In addition to having one of the best covers we’ve seen so far this year, the book also boasts this awesome (totally scientific) book trailer:
It’s not easy to make a book trailer actually fun to watch. But of course that’s Mary Roach’s style, to take textbook information and turn it into a highly entertaining read. Seriously, if we could fill up a car with authors for a road trip, it would totally include Mary Roach and Amy Stewart. And Sarah Vowell. Oh, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson. And Chuch Palahniuk. We could eat gas station burritos while Mary Roach offered a play-by-play of what was going on. It’d be great!
After you watch the book trailer, you should take a listen to Terry Gross’s interview with Roach on Fresh Air, it’s a great conversation. (Oh, and add Terry Gross to that road trip, too, of course.)

Think it’s a wonderful concept to promote a book. It’s a brilliant idea:)
Cheers
