Last Day to Sign up for World Book Night!

Attention benevolent book lovers! Today is the last day to sign up to be a giver for World Book Night US 2013!

To apply to be a giver, visit the World Book Night US website, where you’ll also find more information about what exactly World Book Night US is and the full list of titles givers around the country will be giving away on April 23rd.

BookPeople will once again act as a distribution center for WBN. We’ll hand you your box of books and even invite you to a party to celebrate! We loved participating in World Book Night last year and look forward to doing it again. Join us in this mission to spread a love of books and reading in our community!

Here’s a quick little FAQ about World Book Night:

Q. What is World Book Night?

A. World Book Night is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person.  Each year on April 23, tens of thousands of people in the U.S. go out into their communities and give a total of half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to light and non-readers.

Q. What exactly do givers hand out?

A. World Book Night U.S. books are specially produced, not-for-resale paperbacks. Book givers will receive 20 copies of one book, a book they love from the list of 30 World Book Night U.S. selections. In their applications, givers make three choices, and WBN does its absolute best to get everyone their first or second choice.

Q. Do givers have to buy the books?

A. There is no charge for these special, not-for-resale editions. Givers will be responsible for any expenses incurred in picking up their box and distributing the books. These books cannot be resold in any fashion.

Authors have foregone their royalties to make this possible.  Please see the full list of Partners and Sponsors in the About Us section on the WBN US website. Through their generosity and the work of many volunteers—including you—World Book Night is able to make the books available free of charge.
