What You Really Really Want: The Smart Girl’s Shame-Free Guide to Sex and Safety by Jaclyn Friedman
“The subtitle of this book is what really gets you. If shame is a trigger word, this book is for you. While Jaclyn Friedman does talk about sex, most of what she discusses is sexual expression. From fashion to our taste in music, sexual expression is who we are and how we project ourselves. So often women feel uncomfortable with these things, this book helps you dive into all of that in a way that isn’t scary at all. What You Really Really Want is more than a book, it’s exercises and activities that have you go as far back as childhood preferences to help you understand your choices and behavior patterns in order to get to the root of what you really really want. She is a big proponent of the idea that there is no such thing as deviance- what consenting adults find okay is okay. A life changing must read!”

“It’s Russell’s newest short story collection due out in February. The title story is great – telling the story of an aged vampire couple who tries to forego drinking blood and live solely on lemons. Russell is a masterful short story writer and this collection reminds me a lot of Aimee Bender’s short stories.”
Vampires in the Lemon Grove is now available for Pre-Order.

Heads in Beds by Jacob Tomsky
Heads in Beds is an expose on the hotel industry. Jacob Tomsky worked in the hotel industry since he graduated from college with his philosophy degree. He started as a valet and worked his way up. At one point he was head of house cleaning, then worked the front desk. He gives an inside look into high end hotels including exclusive club member levels where celebs stay and how to not get charged for those tiny bottles of alcohol. It’s well written and super interesting.”

Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
“I’m rereading Name of the Rose with a focus towards the history aspect of the story. I’m not a history geek but now that I have Wikipedia on my side it’s a whole new game. In the simplest of terms it’s a 14c murder mystery set in an Italian monastery, written in manuscript form about this guy who witnesses all these arcane goings on. It’s awesome!”
