MANUEL GONZALES
The Miniature Wife: And Other Stories
Friday, January 11 at 7pm
The Miniature Wife has been a highly anticipated collection around here. We’ve been passing a couple of advance editions around for a few months. Manuel Gonzales has been published in One Story, McSweeney’s, The Believer. He’s a home town boy, and in fact is the Executive Director of Austin Bat Cave. If you like unusual, unexpected fiction, definitely pick this one up. The first story will hook you right away; it’s narrated by a passenger on a plane that has been circling Dallas for twenty years. We’ll celebrate this debut with beverages courtesy of Saint Arnold Brewing Company.
GEORGE SAUNDERS
Tenth of December
Tuesday, January 22 at 7pm
George Saunders is a master of the short story. He’s a veritable living literary legend! To say that we are, in the parlance of our times, stoked to have him read from our podium is indeed an understatement. Funny, weird and wholly enjoyable, this new collection does not disappoint. We’re excited to bring it to our shelves, and so is the Austin American-Statesman, which has made this the paper’s Statesman Selects pick for the month of January.

DAVE BARRY
Insane City
Tuesday, February 5 at 7pm
The one and only Dave Barry has written his first solo novel in nearly a decade! What’s he been doing all this time? Oh, you know, not much. Writing his Pulitzer Prize-winning humor column. Teaming up with guys like Ridley Pearson to write the awesome Peter and the Starcatchers series. Insane City sounds, you know, appropriately insane. It’s set in Florida, and there are gangsters, angry strippers, and an eleven-foot Burmese python. Exactly what you’d expect from Dave Barry.
Looking even further into the future (ahem, mark your calendars now):
Fri, 2/22 – CORY DOCTOROW
Tues 2/26 – Pearls Before Swine creator STEPHAN PASTIS
Mon 3/11 – HUGH HOWEY, author of the self-published success Wool
Tues 4/16 – AMY STEWART, with Drunken Botanist
