ROBYN
The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break by Steven Sherrill

“A modern day minotaur finds himself working as a line cook, living a trailer in the south. He clearly does not fit in, and on top of that has to deal with no longer being able to consume human flesh. It sounds really funny, but really it’s terribly sad. He’s a lonely creature. Hopefully he will find love in the end, even though hes thousands of years old. A very strange story, I really can’t wait to read the rest.”
STEPHANYA
The Collected Works of Billy the Kid by Michael Ondaatje
“I was reading an article about Nick Cave and he said when he was a kid growing up in Australia this book was the single most important thing in developing his voice and style, and was crucial in writing his recent film Lawless. Told from the perspective of Billy the Kid, it is presented in snap shots of his life on the lam. It’s really bloody and raw just like Nick Cave.”
SHAPPY
The Zen of Steve Jobs by Caleb Melby and Jess3
“This is a graphic novel about Steve Jobs in his Zen days after he’d been fired from apple. He and his Buddhist priest would go to Denny’s and eat hot fudge sundaes and discuss how all of life is based on the circle. When Steve Jobs went back to apple his business practice and even design sense was zen based. It’s really surprising Forbes would put out a graphic novel – It’s pretty great.”

The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, Cliff Rathburn, and Charlie Adlard
“I started out watching the TV show, I’m really not a graphic novel/comic book person, but The Walking Dead is just different enough from the show that you can read them without ruining either. They’re beautifully drawn, well written, and excellently paced, the perfect thing to pick up for a quick and highly entertaining read. As someone who isn’t into graphic novels this makes me think I’d misjudged the genre. Really it’s that good.”
