Teen Thursday

May you always stay young at heart. This will help. Happy Thursday dears!

UnWholly by Neal Shusterman

We LOVE Neal Shusterman here at BookPeople and could not be more excited for his new book UnWholly. UnWholly is the long awaited sequel to UnWind, which Publisher’s Weekly called “gripping, brilliantly imagined futuristic thriller.”

Emily from our own Teen Press Corps adored UnWholly, here is just some of what she had to say.

“It’s been a long wait for this book, but Unwind fans will not be disappointed. Several new characters are added to the mix; some good, some bad, but they all have their own agenda. Connor, Lev, and Rise not only have to deal with Juvies and harvest camps, but also with parts pirates, those who kidnap kids to meet the demand for organs the Cap-17 law has created. There’s plenty of suspense and action that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I absolutely could not put the book down during the last hundred pages because I just had to find out how everything worked out.”

And now, just because we love him, is a fantastic interview with Shusterman himself from Good Reads.

“SS: How would you describe your life in only 8 words?

NS: Poignant thinking out of the box, on rye.

SS: What is your motto or maxim?

NS: Try to see things differently — It’s the only way to get a clearer perspective on the world and on your life.

SS: How would you describe perfect happiness?

NS: Being with my kids, while eating sushi, on a cruise, having just reached my “goal weight,” after e-mailing a final draft of my best book yet, on New Years Eve.

SS: What’s your greatest fear?

NS: A fear of the universe being indifferent to our existence. And spiders.

SS: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

NS: Definitely Venice, Italy. Unless it’s flooding again.

SS: With whom in history do you most identify?

NS: William Shakespeare’s lesser-known brother, Kyle…”
