NEW BOOKS WE LOVE

Dragons Love Tacos
By Adam Rubin, Illustrated by Daniel Salmieri
Recommended for ages 3 & up

Dragons love tacos. Seriously, they LOVE them. They also love parties. Any kind of parties really. But especially TACO PARTIES! Oh, you’re throwing a taco party? How fun! Just one little bitty guideline to remember: Dragons can’t tolerate spicy salsa. Seriously, NO spicy salsa. Wait, what’s in that red jar? Uh oh…. DO NOT LET THOSE DRAGONS EAT THOSE TACOS!

Summer at Forsaken Lake
By Michael Beil
Recommended for ages 8 & up

Spending the summer at Forsaken Lake with his twin sisters and his elderly Uncle Nick seems to Nicholas like a surefire recipe for boredom. But between sailing lessons with his uncle, a ghost ship that appears at exactly 2:53 AM each morning, an unfinished horror flick to tinker with, and a 30 year old mystery that links back to the time his father spent his summers there as a kid, this vacation is definitely shaping up to be a whole lot better than boring!

Seraphina
By Rachel Hartman
Recommended for ages 13 & up

Rachel Hartman’s intricately crafted dragon fantasy makes the perfect summer book for anyone looking to delve into a fascinating new world. Set in a society where dragons and humans have forged a state of uneasy peace, this novel genuinely manages to rise above the cliches of the genre and forge its own unique path with rich prose, a thoughtfully developed culture, and a distinctly odd, yet fiercely memorable heroine whose secret identity as a dragon-human hybrid fills her reclusive life with misshapen visions and glorious music, while inexorably drawing her out of her shell and into a complex web of royal murder, intrigue, and the ever-shifting perils of court politics.
