Better late than never! Yesterday we got completely caught up with our fantastic Teen Press Corps. We had a very productive meeting and I assure you there is greatness in the works.
Excitement abounding! Lois Lowry will be in store Oct 15th. Needless to say deciding who would be the first to read our pre-lease copy of her new book Son was quite a feat. Son is last book in the oh so amazing Giver quartet.
Our teens will be reviewing their favorite YA book covers and giving some insight into what attracts them to a book. We also have some reviews in the works for hot new reads. All in all yesterday was a great in house Teen Thursday and now here’s that Teen Thursday you were missing!

Rapture by Lauren Kate went on sale this week! Rapture is the fourth and last book in the Final series.
The sky is dark with wings. . . . Like sand through an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past, they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again. Yet together they face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen. For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now is the only one that truly matters. In the fight for Luce, who will win?
Lauren Kate will be in store speaking and signing Rapture Thursday, June 21st at 7P!

Erin reviews Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.
“Shadow and Bone was much like a mash up of Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. The main character, Alina, is fierce and isn’t afraid to speak her mind much like Katniss. All of the magic and the fantastical creatures in this novel reminded me of Harry Potter which was definitely a plus considering how wonderful Harry Potter is.”

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
PW reported, “A Monster Calls (Walker) achieved a remarkable first on Thursday when author Patrick Ness was awarded the CILIP Carnegie Medal and illustrator Jim Kay scooped up the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. No book has ever won both prizes since the Greenaway was first awarded in 1956 (the Carnegie preceded it, in 1936).”

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
Rachel Meade talks to the Los Angeles Times about The Golden Lilly, which Laura from our Teen Press Corps is really loving.
“What’s fun about “Bloodlines” is it’s a different kind of strength we’re seeing in a young woman. Rose was obviously strong physically and getting into fights and punching her enemies. She was literally a strong, fierce woman. Sydney is quieter. It’s an intellectual strength, and I think that’s important to show, too. There’s a lot of ways to assert yourself and be a strong person.”
