Three Books to Celebrate Bike-to-Work Day!

It’s national Bike-to-Work Day! Did you pedal on down to your place of employment today? If not, hey, there’s always Monday, not to mention the rest of National Bike Month.

Here are a few books we recommend for all you cyclists out there:

Cyclepedia: A Century of Iconic Bike Design: One of our all-time favorites. This book is a beautiful, coffee table-size tribute to the bicycle in all of its many forms.

Pedaling Revolution: How Cyclists are Changing American Cities: Cycling is no extreme sport meant only for the  spandex-clad crowd, it’s a mode of transportation accessible to all of us (something many of us here at BookPeople know), and it’s changing the fabric of our cities, says Jeff Mapes. Check out David Byrne’s wonderful NYT review of Pedaling Revolution.

Hell on Two Wheels: An Astonishing Story of Suffering, Triumph and the Most Extreme Endurance Race in the World: We had the pleasure of hearing Amy Snyder’s story in person when she came here on tour for Hell on Two Wheels. A three time Ironman finisher, Snyder shares all there is to know about one of the most intense bicycle races in the world, the Race Across America.

If you are jumping on your bike today, or any day of the year, PLEASE – be safe, wear a helmet.
