America’s first World Book Night has come and gone, and from the look of things here in Austin, it was a huge success! It was a lot of fun yesterday to see everyone’s pictures and to hear various stories of giving. Our favorite came from this blog post by author Chris Cander, who described giving away Peace Like a River by Leif Enger at a shelter for homeless and runaway teens. And check out this Read Mob in St. Louis!
The effort received some great national coverage, including articles in The Huffington Post and USA Today.
We had many folks ask us yesterday how they could participate. The best thing to do now is visit www.us.worldbooknight.org and sign up for the World Book Night US mailing list so you’ll be notified when it’s time to sign up to be a Giver next year.
Here are a few shots from our experience distributing books yesterday. THANK YOU to everyone in our community who made this happen in such a big way in Austin. Mark your calendars and we’ll do it all again next year – Tuesday, April 23 2013!
