On March 16 at 7PM, three great authors will be visiting us to talk about their new teen books as part of the This is Teen! Live event. Moderated by David Levithan, the authors are Maggie Stiefvater, Siobhan Vivian, and Elizabeth Eulberg.
So far, I’ve profiled Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races and Siobhan Vivian’s The List. Now, let me tell you about our final author, Elizabeth Eulberg, and her book Take a Bow.
Take a Bow
By Elizabeth Eulberg
This story follows four seniors at the prestigious New York City High School of the Creative and Performing Arts (or CPA) as they try to figure out themselves and what they want to do with their lives. Carter is a former child star who is becoming ambivalent about acting while his girlfriend Sophie will do anything for success. Her best friend Emme is has been composing songs for Sophie for years, and she is rivals as well as good friends with Ethan a composing prodigy. Together the four try to find a place for themselves both at the school and in the future.
A thought-provoking look at the (what at times could be a cut-throat) world of prestigious magnet schools, the book alternates between thrilling and downright heartbreaking. You root for many of the characters as they succeed, and you feel the pain almost as keenly as they do when they fail. A fascinating story, I would recommend this book to anyone who ever has (either now or in the past) to becoming famous.
