Bookstore Yarn Bomb! – A Message from Merrilee

~Post by Merrilee

Well, it will soon be over. Tomorrow our sweater will be put on display. Whether we win or lose (lose?! How can welose? Our sweater is so MASSIVE!), I’d like to thank everyone here at BookPeople who helped out. Thanks to everyone who knitted on it, including those people who let me teach them how to knit just long enough to knit one stitch. Thanks to everyone who had brilliant ideas, especially Sharee. Thanks to the assembly team, thanks to the dressing team (aka the sweater putter on-ers), and thanks to my son for cooking, cleaning, and keeping me going during my four day knitting marathon last week (22+ hours knitting!)

Things I’ve learned from this project/experience:

1. There may be no such thing as too much yarn, but I DO have an awful lot of it at my house…an AWFUL lot. (No yarn was purchased to make our sweater. It all came from my personal yarn stash).

2. There IS such a thing as too much knitting. I’d say it’s right around 22+ hours over four days.

3. There’s no project so crazy or weird that you can’t get people here at BookPeople to participate.

So Mac, if you’re reading this, we love you and all of your books (Extra Yarn, of course, but also Mustache, and Billy Twitters and his Blue Whale Problem.) And Jon Klassesn, we love you, too, (especially the bear). Thanks to both of you for inspiring our crazy, huge, colorful (and how!) doing-our-part-to-keep-Austin-weird knitting project.
