Life by Keith Richards
“A wonderful rambling rant on the not-so-secret life of the Rolling Stones. It puts fact to all of the grand rumors and adds depth to a person who you never knew was so capable of substance and not just substance abuse. I’m reading it for our Happy Hour Book Club at the Highball.”
The Happy Hour Book Club will meet at the Highball to discuss Life this Thursday, Feb 23, 5:30p. The meeting is free and open to the public. All are welcome!

Arcadia by Lauren Groff
“I’ve really been looking forward to this new novel from the author of The Monsters of Templeton, which I loved. This is a story about a group of hippies who form a commune in Arcadia, New York around a falling-down old mansion, and the five year old boy, Bit, who watches it all happen around him. The language is beautiful and Bit is a very a interesting kid. He’s small enough that people treat him like a baby, but also smart enough that he can understand a lot more of what’s going on than people think.”
Available March 13! Now accepting pre-orders.

Across the Universe byBeth Revis
“I was skeptical when I first picked this up. It’s a YA science fiction novel. I’d read some mixed reviews. Now I’m halfway through and it’s totally sucked me in! I have no idea what’s going to happen. There are lots of twists, mystery, and possibly an adorable romance blooming. Oh, and there’s danger!

10 Ways to Recycle a Corpse: And 100 More Dreadfully Distasteful Lists by Karl Shaw
“This is a book of lists of trivial and arbitrary facts. It’s for anyone who likes reading Cracked.com or Mental Floss. You’ll learn all sorts of weird things. For instance, Ben Franklin would sit naked in front of an open window and say he was taking an ‘air bath’.”

Game Change by Mark Halperin & John Heilemann
“I’m listening to the audio edition of this right now. It’s about the 2008 presidential campaign and it’s fascinating. You get the inside scoop on one of the most interesting presidential races in history. A lot of it is really shocking and borders on the unbelievable. I’m learning a lot about the Edwards family. Apparently John Edwards’ aides knew he was having an affair and warned him to be more discreet. We all know what happened there. It’s awesome to hear how cool, calm and collected Obama was through the whole thing in comparison.”
