This year is special. It’s a leap year, so this month has an extra day. It’s 2012, so it’s an election, and it’s the end of the what the Mayans called “The Time of Trial on Earth” which may or may not signify the end of the world.
Like I said, a big year.
So, it’s only fitting that this special month of this special year, we’ll be bringing in an author who has survived so much herself — Andrea White. Now on the surface she may not seem like the classic definition of a survivor. There are no horrendous plane-crash-turn-cannibalism-experiences in her past, but this woman has actually survived a lot. Namely:
- Being first lady of Houston. This is no mean feat.
- Having a book on the Bluebonnet list. Yes, this is a very good thing to happen, but it still means a lot of work on the author’s part.
- Writing so much just about surviving. It not only takes a great amount of imagination and research, but also the patience to actually write it.
Join us next Tuesday at 6pm when she comes to BookPeople to celebrate her latest book, Windows on the World. For more information on the event, click here.
