Buzzin’ About ‘Angelmaker’

In the good, bad and occasionally ugly world of book trailers, here’s one that stands out, the trailer for Angelmaker, the upcoming novel by Nick Harkaway (author of The Gone-Away World):

(Note – the trailer is promoting the British edition, which has already hit shelves on the other side of the Atlantic. Angelmaker goes on sale here March 20.)

The Guardian said in its review, “…this is a joyful display of reckless, delightful invention, on a par with the rocket-powered novels of Neal Stephenson, if in rather more ironically diffident English form. Ideas come zinging in from all corners, and do so with linguistic verve and tremendous humour.”

We’re really looking forward to this one. The advance reader has been a hot item around here. I just said the name Nick Harkaway and someone said, “What? You have that book?” It’s like that. If you enjoy noir, and also humor, and also books that feature a pug with pink marble eyes, you’ll want to pick this one up.

  1. I should have read the full post before watching the trailer. “Out now?!” my mind screamed at me, “Go! Go buy this book!” Only after arriving in the fiction section did I remember it comes out first in the ol’ motherland. Another reason to read the story first before watching the movie…

    1. Oh no! I was worried that might happen, so I almost didn’t post the trailer…but then I had to. I should have put the disclaimer in big, bold letters. NOT YET! NOT YET! NOT YET! ALMOST!!!! Glad you’re excited, though!
