Today I Beat the Odds, the bestselling memoir by Baltimore Ravens’ offensive lineman Michael Oher, is available in paperback nationwide. Oher’s making the rounds of the paperback tour and we’re happy to say we’ll have him here next Wednesday, February 15th, 7p to sign books. We’re getting a LOT of interest in this event, so want to take the occasion of the on-sale date to give you the skinny on Oher’s appearance.
- Due to the anticipated size of the crowd, this event will be a signing only.
- We recommend you buy your book early. This will save you time the night of the event. You can purchase your book online or over the phone (512-472-5050), or go the old fashioned route and come on down to the store, where we’re always glad to see you.
- Wristbands are required to join the signing line and will be handed out beginning at 6pm the day of the event. In order to receive a wristband, you must purchase a paperback copy of I Beat the Odds from BookPeople.
- Oher will only sign books at this event, and he will only sign HIS books. Please, leave your copies of Blind Side at home (both the book and the movie). If you have a hardcover edition of I Beat the Odds, you may have it signed, however you must purchase a paperback copy from us in order to have him do so.
We appreciate your cooperation with these guidelines, as they will ensure an enjoyable event for everyone. If you haven’t watched the video yet, here’s Michael Oher talking to the crew on Morning Joe yesterday. Looks like they had a grand old time. We’re excited to meet him ourselves, and to give his Austin fans the opportunity to say hello, shake his hand and have a book signed. Keep an eye on the local news stations throughout the day on February 15th, as Oher will be making the rounds in front of Austin’s television cameras while he’s in town.
If you have any questions, please email online@bookpeople.com or call 512-472-5050. If you can’t make it to the event, we’re taking orders for signed copies.
