We just had a wonderful meeting here with local groups who will be organizing their members to act as Givers on World Book Night. It was so encouraging to see the rapid fire exchange of ideas as the groups figured out who would work to provide books for which shelter, which children’s program, which school-in-need, and how many titles they could distribute (and to quickly realize that with their forces combined, a LOT of free books will be put into hands all around Austin on April 23rd.)
If you want to be a part of this incredible and highly worthy mission to hand out free books in our community, there’s still time to sign up. Visit the World Book Night website and register to be a Giver by February 1st. Then, on April 23rd, the international date of WBN, you’ll come down to BookPeople, pick up your box of books, and hand them out to those folks in our community who could really use a good, free book. There will also be a special reception here at BookPeople for WBN Givers in our area the week before April 23rd to say thank you and to gear up for the big effort!
Hand out The Hunger Games! The Kite Runner! Poisonwood Bible! The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian! There are so many good books! Join us and book lovers around the world in making World Book Night 2012 a huge success!
