How the Indiebound eReader Apps Work

We recently announced the brand new Indiebound eReader app for your Android device. Now, we’re happy to say there’s also an Indiebound eReader app for your iOS device! It’s easier than ever to download eBooks from your favorite indie bookstore (say, oh, I don’t know, BookPeople) straight to your eReader and enjoy the digital reading life.

Here’s how to use both versions of the app: 

For your Android device: First, download the Indiebound Reader from your Android marketplace. When you first open the app, you’ll be invited to select your indie bookstore either by name or zip code. Select BookPeople (if you like) and voila, you’re browsing our eBooks. When you go ahead and purchase an eBook, you’ll be checking out straight from us. The eBook downloads into your reader. Easy as pie!

For your iOS device: First download the Indiebound app from the App Store. Next, go to www.bookpeople.com in your Safari browser where you can search and browse our Google eBooks. Once you know what you want, purchase your selection through our website. After checkout, visit My eBooks in your account on our site and there will be an option to download the eBook to your Indiebound reader. Done and done.

For both versions of the app, in order to buy Google eBooks you’ll have to sign in with a Google account. If you already have a gmail account, you’re good to go, you can just use that email address and password. If not, you’ll be invited to set up an account.

Addendum: The Indiebound e-Reader App will not work on a Kindle device. There is a way to sideload the app onto a Kindle Fire. For information on how to do that, as well as information on how to download the app and our e-Books to any device, please visit the How To page on our website.
