“The breadth of talent still astounds – Willie Nelson, Janis Joplin, Jerry Jeff Walker, Doug Sahm, Delbert McClinton, Michael Martin Murphey, Willis Alan Ramsey, Kinky Friedman, Steve Fromholz, Bobby Bridger, Billy Joe Shaver, Marcia Ball, and Townes Van Zandt. Some are living legends. Others turned their talents to new venues when the ever-fluid Austin scene evolved away from cosmic cowboys and outlaw country.” ~From the dust jacket of the 2004 edition of Jan Reid’s The Improbable Rise of Redneck Rock
On Tuesday, November 21st, 7p, the one and only singer/songwriter/poet/actor/playwright/author/painter, Bobby Bridger, will be here to present his new book, Where the Tall Grass Grows. He’ll also give a special performance of his acclaimed music.
Here are a few songs to get your weekend turning. If you’ve never seen a Bridger performance, you’re in for a treat if you come on down on Tuesday night. He’s a unique storyteller keeping the spirit of the American West alive.
(That last one’s to get us in the mood – only one week left before the holiday shopping bonanza begins! Remember to shop local this year!)
