So we know and love Amy Stewart for her bestselling books Wicked Plants and her latest, Wicked Bugs. She’s a smart lady with a head full of fascinating scientific knowledge, along the same lines of one of our other favorite nonfiction authors, Mary Roach. Toodling around the internet today scoping out more details about Amy to prepare for her event here next week (Thursday, October 13, 7p), I just discovered something surprising (and very cool) about her – Amy Stewart is also a talented oil painter. Check out her blog for examples. I think Silly Orange Chicken might be my favorite.
We’ve been busy inviting entomologists to the Crazy Bug Party we’re throwing for Amy, but maybe we should start reaching out to artists, too…? If you’re either of those varieties of people, or just a big fan of her books, come on down for the party next Thursday – we’ll have Wicked Bug Juice (thanks to Tito’s Vodka) and edible insects. Which I’ll be happy to watch everyone else eat.
